Intermediate chord progressions – lesson 3
The third part of the lesson series will focus on seventh and extended chords. These chord groups add flavor to the major and minor triads. It's also common to variate with substitutions (see "Alternative chord diagrams" below).

These are extended chord that can be used as substitutions for the chords above. The Dmaj9 can be a substitution for Dmaj7 and so on. Also D6 that was introduced in lesson 5 can be used as substitution for Dmaj7.
