Capo 4 chords

Capo on the fourth fret raise the key two whole steps. For example, a song in C major will now be in E major. A capo on the fourth fret will create possibilities to play some chords with easier fingerings in contrast to the otherwise common fingering choices for specific chord. For example, C# can be played with an A shape and F#/Gb can be played with an D shape (see diagrams below).

What happens in capo 4?

Concerning the common open chords, the capo on first fret will change chord as follows:

C > E
Am > C#m
D > F#
E7 > G#7
Gmaj7 > Bmaj7

This is just a few examples.

Which means, among other things, that the key of A, for example, will shift to the key of C# with capo on the fourth fret.
